Oh man, the grilled and boiled fish at Alameda was out of this world! I could rave about that for days. Plus, the lady who checked us in was a gem. She even helped me with my heavy bag up the steep stairs. The cleanliness of the room was on point, too.
The only bummer? Those steep stairs! Still, it was all good vibes with the warm service.

We choose this hotel because of it's location to the Port of Tarifa, and The Rock of Gibraltar.

Loved the comfy room with excellent wifi, and the cozy common area with coffee. It's just a quick walk to the ferry!

Good little hostal in a busy area, close to the beach, close to all the bars and resturants.

The hotel is in the center of town and a beehive of activity. We enjoyed a free concert from a nearby restaurant. From our balcony we could see ships leaving and arriving from Africa. We walked the beach at sunset and will treasure our photos of having one foot in the Mediterranean and the other foot in the Atlantic Ocean.

The hotel is very clean, modern, and in a perfect location if you are taking the ferry to Tarifa. Some street parking is available, but the parking garage is located a few short blocks away. There are plenty of good, affordable restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. I would highly recommend Hostal Alameda.

I was utterly disappointed at the alameda hostal boutique. No coffee maker in the room, really? The shower was dangerously broken. I expected a room upgrade for my troubles, but of course nothing. I almost left a glowing review, but the lack of basic comforts ruined it for me, ridiculous.

The location is perfect ... right across from the ferry to Tangier. It is close to the beach, the sites, the shopping, tourist info, and restaurants. Some staff spoke English and were very helpful. There is wifi in the original part of the hotel.
When we first arrived we were given a room in the new addition which is a few buildings away. It was hotter than an oven and the air conditioner was not working well enough to cool the place at all. We had to sleep with the doors to the terrace open (not a private terrace) and that was a little unnerving. Also, the wifi did not work at all. After requesting a change, we were relocated to the original building the next day and it was much better. Both the air-con and the wifi worked well in this part of the hotel.

Above all,we loved the location and the relaxed beach atmosphere. We were sure that we wanted to visit a Spanish beach but not in an overly developed area like costa del sol. My husband was interested in kite surfing and I longed to visit Morroco and our kids needed easy access back and forth from the beach/hotel so Hostal Alameda was a perfect fit!
We noticed that the bedroom doors closed properly and easily from the inside but had to be slammed from the outside. We found all the slamming to be loud, especially at night.

Great location for nightlife lovers.
The walls are thin. Our neighbors sounded like they were right in our room until the early hours. The check-in process was confusing, and there was no one available to assist outside of specified hours.
